I'm brokenhearted to post that Durango crossed the Bridge early this afternoon. He made it through the transfusion but took a horrible turn for the worse this morning. By the time I arrived there his temperature was over 105, his blood pressure had dropped to rock bottom and he was just so, so ill. I've been around a lot of dogs through the years and never have I seen a sicker animal in my life. There just wasn't a choice. I don't understand why it had to be like this but I'm thankful he's out of pain. Since he never really had "blog time" I wanted to share a few pictures from his days at home.
He liked to walk under Bear and sit.
He liked to walk under Bear and sit.
One of my favorite pictures....Dot can be such a grump sometimes but she didn't mind at all.
We all loved you Little One, I just hope you knew it.

I've been hovering and waiting and now am in tears. I'm so sorry he didn't pull through. God knows you did everything possible for him. He looked so at home and like a true pack member in those pictures. He KNEW he was loved. God bless him. *Hugs* to you and the pack.
OH run free little fella -
You've got lots of tears falling here now - they will turn to snow FUR YOU -after all, you never did get to play in it -
Well, romp and roll all woo want -
Wags, wuv, and LOTS of tears,
Khyra and Phyll
We are so sorry! We hoped for something better for all of you. You certainly did everything you could. Much more than many would or could do. The saddest part is that you had him such a short time, but at least he had time to know he was loved and part of a pack family.
jans funny farm
HE KNEW!
Those pictures prove that HE KNEW LOVE!
You are beautiful Maryann, I am crying so hard for your loss, for Durango's sad fate, but he KNEW LOVE if only for a few precious, precious days.
I am so so sorry.
We are all so sorry and wish we were there to help.
Oh Maryann (and Brats) we are so sorry for your loss of Durango. We know you did all you could to help this little pup and we know that he knows it and appreciates it. Know that you all are in our prayers and that we love you all very much.
Hugs and Kisses,
Shelli, Sitka and Tia
Maryann, I'm so sad for you and the whole pack. Your compassion for Durango was just so amazing. I think it was Jen who said you are her hero for all the time and love you give to these furry ones. I suspect you are a hero for all us DWBers. At the very least, you are an amazing role model for humans and dogs alike. It's heartbreaking that Durango had to go through this, but there is not a better person in the whole of DWB land he could have been lucky enough to have by his side through it all. Hugs to all of you.

Maryann and the pack
Durango was a beautiful baby, and for a few days, he had a beautiful life with you.
gussie
I'd say I'm sad, and I am sad that Durango got into such a state to begin with. But he was in such a state and you made sure he left this world knowing love.
I'll say a special prayer for you tonight.
Maryann I am so sorry.
We are so sorry to hear this...
But we always try to find a positive side to things instead of dwelling on the negative. For Durango, he now lives in doggy heaven, where he can run free without any dangers or other obstacles along the way, and he can look down and care fur his loving family who tried their very best to give him the time of his life! We know fur sure that Durango knew you all loved him!
Wags and licks,
Maya and Kena
I am sad to hear the news. I will keep durango´s family in my thoughts during this difficult time. I know that he will be guiding us with his beautiful eyes from across the rainbow bridge.
Maryann, I am so sorry to hear this. I have also hovered waiting to read the next update but fearing it would be sad. You are an angel on Earth to open your home and heart to animals in need. You go out of your way to be at a shelter to find somedog as sweet as Durango. I wish it could have been different for him. You gave him a chance when others did not and he knew he was home. I am so glad you got some pictures of him in his short time with you and the Brats. Thank you for sharing them. I know it breaks your heart to look at them. You are in my prayers.
Mary, the Dachsies' mom
Oh Maryann, I am so so sorry. I guess all the postive thinking in the world doesn't always work. God bless you for all you did for him. Be at peace knowing he was loved by so many even for the short time he was with you. Again, you are amazing and I am in awe over how much you give to these guys.
Hugs & Kisses to you & the Pack.
Jen
Oh Maryann -
Words just can't even explain how sad & sorry we are for the loss of Durango...You loved him with all your heart & he knew that...During his short existance here on earth he was able to know love from you & the pack & was able to go to the bridge with friends on both sides..I know that Dakota & Thrawn are welcoming him & will look after him...maybe they wanted a little playmate as well...
I'm thankful he is now longer in pain..but I know pain 1000fold exists in your heart - to your very core. You did everything humanly & divinely imaginable...You are an angel here on earth Maryann - we all love you.
Love & Licks,
Randi & her mom
The Mom and I are so sorry to hear about Durango. He was lucky to have the Pack and a family, even if was for such a short time.
Run free big man...
Maryann, I am awfully sorry. You put your heart, soul, and energy into this lovable dogs. You really did a wonderful thing. Although he has passed, I bet he is looking down, pain free and wagging his tail for you as you tried to give him a chance to have a healthy and happy life. God bless you and the gift that you have been given.
Hugs to you in this very hard time.
I am so so sorry for poor Durango. He was a lucky fella to have the love you gave him for his short life. I hope that you realize that while it wasn't for a long period of time, that he was a happy boy while with you.
What a short life, but so much love in such a small amount of time is a true gift.
God Bless Durango and you too Maryann.
He had a very short life but thankfully he had a few happy days with you and the pack.
You all are in my prayers.
Lorenza
Sending much love to you and the rest of the pack. Like everyone else has said, Durango knew that you all loved him. Wonderful pictures, too.
Sweet Mary Ann & the Brats!
One look at little Durango & it's obvious he knew he was home, and he was LOVED! As hard as this all is for you, I can't think of a better family for him to spend his last days with.
Run like the wind, sweet Durango!!!
Goober love & comforting smooches,
Stanley (& my girl)
We are so sorry to hear the news. You did everything you could and gave him a fighting chance. Most people would have given up on him. Prayers for you and the entire pack! Candles lit for dear Durango.
Woo woooooo, Kelsey Ann and the pack
I am so very sorry this happened to Durango and you. He sure was a beautiful boy and looks like he made a great addition to the family. I know there is a lucky little guy or girl doggy out there waiting for you when you are ready.
Maryann, I believe dogs have wondrous spirits. This wonderful spirit came here and was shown love by you and gave love back. I don't know what his lesson for you was in the big scheme of things, but believe there always is one.Sometimes the shortest lives have the biggest lessons, it seems. (sorry hard for me to put into words what is in my head.) My heart hurts for you. Hard, hard times the last month. ((((((hugs to you and the pack))))))
I don't believe dogs have the same concept of time as humans do. I believe that Durango spent a lifetime in your loving arms.
I'm so sorry. You've been through too much.
Patience
I am so sorry, Maryann, that you have had to go through this twice in such a short time, and that the babies are gone. Trust me, even though Durango didn't have much time with you, he knew you loved him. That I promise you. Dogs know more than we could ever give them credit for, and they have better senses than we do.
Love from Thor and his mama, Stacy
Maryann and the Pack....
We're so very sorry. We just caught up on ur blog and feel awful for poor Durango and the rest of you. Dogs know, Maryann...they sense and know they're loved....Though you had him but a short time, it was a wonderful period in this pups all too short life. You all gave of yourselves and he was blessed to have you all!
We're thinking of you and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers...
Marilyn,
and Scruffy, Lacie and Babystan
I am so sorry to hear about little Durango - for what it's worth you did everything you possibly could for the little guy and I'm sure he appreciated the opportunity to spend his last few days as part of a loving family.
Many, many hugs to you all.
River
We are so sorry to hear about Durango. He's safely crossed the Rainbow Bridge and will be waiting tail-a- waggin'. You are both so lucky to have found each other even for the short time you shared. All of our love to you and your pack.
Run free little man :(
He knew he was loved.
Once again, our hearts are breaking.
Love
Opy
We're so sorry about everything you and Durango had to go through. My mom had a German Shepherd, Ilsa May, a long time ago and same thing, except the vet said there was nothing more he could do and sent her home. We know about the blood and stuff. Mom just locked herself in the bathroom with the vaporizer going and sat up for nights with her. She made it, but was never quite the same. You are such an angel for what you do with your babies. There's a special place in heaven for people like you. Durango will be there waiting for you at the bridge. I just know it.
Love, Mary-Margaret
I just don't have words. I'm sure if Durango could tell you now, he'd say, "thank you for believing in me."
Thinking of you....
we're terribly sorry tat this had to happen at tis time, M.
at least, he had his fun for a few days - meeting the other brats, feeling the comfy-ness of a bed, had loads of toys to play with, and to have met you.
he will get to know more about each and every one of you, when he meet Thrawn & Dakota on the bridge.
*hugz to you all*
We are just so broken hearted to hear the news! You did everything you could, Maryann. I'm sure Durango felt your love! Our thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Love ya lots,

Gosh Maryann, he looked so adorable. However short his time with you, at least he got lots of love from a super family. You did all you could. We are so so sorry for you all.

This is such a devastating news. Poor boy, passed away at such a tender age. He didn't really even get a chance to experience a wonderful life with you all or even blog. I'm so sorry Maryann...You did everything that you possibly could & I'm proud of you. You're a wonderful, caring & beautiful hearted woman. My prayers are with you & the Brat Pack. I hope he has a greater life up there in doggie heaven...
Pee/s: I've added your blog to my links. I will come by often...

Goodbye my sweet Durango. You are now with momma's Emily, Sumo and Bella. You are now running free with not a care in the world. Till we meet again,
Mack.
This sweet baby is no longer suffering and will be waiting at the bridge with the rest of our angels. You have a special place in his heart and he'll be with you as you move on to share your love wtih the rest of your loving pups and those yet to come.

It's so hard to type with the tears falling ....
We're so very sorry for your loss. You did the best you could for him and like Kelsey Ann said, you gave him a fighting chance. You also filled his short life with LOVE. That is the greatest gift.

Oh, no! I just stopped here from Sasha's blog and read about poor Durango. All of us at DVSHR send soft woos and licks as Durango crosses the bridge. Godspeed, little one.
We were hoping, but it wasn't to be.
Sad, soft woofs to our young pal across the bridge, and soothing licks to you all.

MaryAnn & The Pack:
So very saddened - know your hearts are broken -
How save and loved he must have felt to let go.
Thank you for loving him!
oh we are so sad for you, Maryann, but we know you did the right thing for little Durango. you are a saint for dogs and we know that Durango felt your love. he was a beautiful creature and it's so sad that he didn't have the wonderful long happy life that you had planned for him, but it wasn't his fault and it wasn't your fault. we are so sorry that both of you had to go through this. Durango will be with Thrawn and is not suffering anymore. sometimes the greatest gift you give to a dog is the one that is the most difficult. we admire you and respect you and love you. you have a few happy memories of Durango that you can hold and treasure.
sorrowful woofers that it had to happen at all.
We are so sorry to hear that Durango didn't make it. You are a wonderful person for giving him your love and helping him try to fight the parvo. He crossed the bridge knowing how much you cared about him. We wish the world was filled with more people like you.

Marls
I am so sorry to hear this news, and I pray that you will have a calm heart while you adjust to Durango's passing. You were a great home and famly for him even if was for a shorter time.
Durango loved and he was loved.
Mary-Ann,
Words escape me. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and the other brats.
Shannon
I'm so terribly sorry. I just can't put into words how I feel for you and your dogs. You've all been through so much this year.
I'm glad that Durango knew some love and affection, and that he did have a family, before he crossed the brige. You did every possible thing for him, and he knows that. Bless you for that.
Indy and family
Dear MaryAnn,
We have been away for more than a month with a broken computer & have been trying to read everybodys blog and just to yours. What a shock to read this post. The Mommy & I were sad when we read about Durango and are sorry we never had a chance to get to know him. But then we read about Thrawn and the Mommy started crying. We will miss seeing his beautiful face and his big heart.
The Mommy wants you to know that she is praying for you and she knows what she went trough when her Samantha died and now you are grieving for two. Please know we will never forget Thrawn and he will be always in our hearts.
The Mommy said she believes that Tharwn, Durango and all the others doggies we have loved & lost are playing with Samantha right now and sending their love and blessing right down to us at the Rainbow bridge.
Love Mona & the Mommy.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and the pack, KB
God Bless & comfort your household. This is heartwrenching. Durango though left this world knowing love and that is the best gift in life you could have given him. You know your other angels will care for him. This was a beautiful photo tribute.
We're deeply deely sadden along with all of you.
Oh Maryann & the pack, this must be so difficult for you. I'm so sorry that Durango didn't make it. He was an adorable pup and I'm sure he knew how lucky he was to have such a wonderful home and I'm sure he knew how loved he was. You can see his love for you shining out through those gorgeous eyes! Maryann, you are such a wonderful person for all that you do. For all the evil people out there that do wrong by animals there are angels like you who aren't thanked enough. So, for all of the wonderful things that you do, thank you!! Durango, you and the rest of the pack will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Kirby & Kirstin
I'm sooo sorry to hear about this. He's a beautiful pup and he would have grown up to be a handsome boy. I know many would have given up on him at the very first instant, but you didn't. At least you gave him a fighting chance, and I'm sure he's grateful to you for it.
Take care now.
Maryann, we are so, so sorry for your loss. You're in our thoughts and prayers.
Steve, Kat, Valerie & David
I'm so sorry about little Durango. He DID know what it means to have a good life and someone who cares for him. Even if it was just for those few days he was with you before he got sick. Dogs can tell when they are loved...and you certainly loved him.
Poppy and Sarah
Gosh.. I don't know what to write anymore cos this is just so depressing. I am sorry that lil' Durango didn't pull through.. He's such a handsome fella and I really was looking forward to reading all about his adventures growing up with the rest of the pack.
In a way, I am also glad that you have shown Durango what love is during his short time in our world and I hope this encounter hasn't put you off giving another pup out there a good and loving home.
I have been procastinating and not checking your blog over the weekend. :( I'm really sorry to hear about Durango but at least he's no longer suffering. I am sure the time he spent with you and the pack was truly the happiest for him after he left the shelter.
Run Free little one.
Life's just so unfair at times.
I'm so sorry to hear about Durango. He's so young. :( He's such a cute puppy and you did give him a very warm and nice home in his last days.
Please take care.

We are so sorry to hear the bad news and hear that it didn't turn out for the best for the the little guy. But it's easy to see in those pictures that he knew that you loved him and that the rest of the pack loved him. He seems like a special little boy and we're positive that he knew you LOVED him. We are so sorry for your loss and we wish we could do more for you.
Wags, love and tears,

I'm sure he is having a swell time with all the other wonderful animals / pets over the other side.
Our thoughts are with you.

Found you through DWB - so sorry to read about Durango. I have to echo a lot of the thoughts here: just looking at the darling pictures shows that in little Durango's short time with you, he had the best time of his life, and he knew he was loved and he loved in return. And look at how many of us he has touched.
Poor little guy.
Hugs and comfort from Biggie and his humans
Maryann, I know this has to be really hard for you to deal with righ now. You are such a wonderful person to take on your pack. I think Durango was sent to you to make what little time he had a wonderful time. You gave him a home and a family and now Thrawn and Dakota are taking very good care of him.
We love you guys and even though we didn't know Durango, we're still sad and are trying to see through tears to type this.
Love
Kaos and Hilary

We're so sorry Maryann. You are such a good, good person for taking this little guy in and giving him a loving and comfortable place during his illness. I bet he is frolicking with Thrawn and Dakota!
We're so sorry to hear about Durango - he was such a young one. It's just not fair, but we're sure he's across the bridge, happy and whole again.
I'm sorry we are so late to come here and say how sorry we are about Durango. We've been wrapped up in our own crap of late. What a sad, sad story - I'm just so glad that Durango got to spend his last days with all of you.

Durango loved all The Brat Pack gang & peeps to; you can see it in his eyes in those most precious photographs. Y'all did the best you could but it wasn't up to y'all. Would Durango have been better off if he hadn't ever joined The Brat Pack? Course not, y'all mad what little time he had the best of his short life. He was lucky to know you and you were blessed to have known him. - TBH
