We interrupt this blog...

...mostly because our Mother is taking it over again. Yes, AGAIN. We're going to scoop her on the news though and tell you we have a new foster sister. BWWWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ok, ok, here she is...

:::sigh::: Maryann here, I see the "ANGELS" broke the news so here is the deal!

Millie is a senior Terrier mix....she only weighs 13.5 pounds. (she's a little tubby actually). Millie was dumped at a kill shelter in Oklahoma, the shelter suspects her person passed away or went into a home and the family left her at the shelter. (Who knows though) They simply told the shelter worker that they "didn't want to have to take care of her anymore". They also told the shelter that she was 17 years old...personally I don't think she is that old but there's no telling. She is quite spry for her age either way and gets around fine.

She was in a run with two Chihuahuas and was scared to death. One of the volunteers finally got her to come to her and she was in love. She gave Millie a warm bubble bath which she loved and clipped the nails that were curling under. She never made a peep except for a big sigh when she laid down in the warm water. She felt so much better after her bath and her true personality started showing through.

Unfortunately being a senior in a kill shelter is NOT a good thing and she was on "the list" for this morning. The volunteer posted about Millie and she was kind enough to pull her and bring her to me in Dallas so she wouldn't be killed. I know it's a risk to take in an elderly dog as a foster as there aren't people lined up everywhere, but I learned at Best Friends that every dog is adoptable, you just have to take the time to find the right parents.

Millie was obviously well loved at some point, she behaves like a little lady and is housebroken. She will follow you off leash anywhere and is very happy to just have company. She has a bit of a cold from her shelter stay and is on antibiotics to clear it. She takes the medicine like a champ though. Her teeth (that she has left) have seen better days and her breath is, well, not great. I suspect she hasn't had much dental care in her life. She also has a tendency to sneeze a lot when she is outside, the pollen might irritate her a little but she loves exploring. She has been wormed, cleared of fleas, updated on all shots except rabies which I'll do after her cold is gone. She might require a couple doggie shirts though as she shivers a lot when she's not covered up. :)

Millie absolutely LOVES the car...she'll run right out and jump in ready to go. She's alert and loves to watch out the windows. She must have ridden in the car a lot because she's got the "lean" going on when you brake or turn a corner. She is fine being picked up and will let you hold her like a baby as well. I found this morning that if you sit outside she loves to stretch out and sunbathe. She is fine with other dogs, but would not have the defenses to protect herself if she were bullied.

Anyone who knows me knows I've never really had LITTLE dogs...in fact I'm not even sure how to handle her. ;) It's just that when I saw her scared face and her story all I could imagine is one of the Brats in that situation. This is one of my biggest fears. So with that in mind I am going to try to find little Miss Millie her forever home. I don't know how long it will be for, but I do know that she deserves to live the rest of her life with dignity and love. Please pass this on to anyone you might know who could give her that home.
