What the hell is wrong with my foot?!?!?

Update...Just back from drs office, took a sample so he could evaluate it. To be honest I don't remember what he called it, I was dazed once the C word came up. The sample was suspicious enough that he's going to have to have surgery to remove it to do a full biopsy. The thought of Bear having Cancer makes me physically ill. I'm waiting for a quote so I can get it scheduled and will post any update. Thanks for all the help. :( -M

Update 2 - I called and asked so I could research it to death.
Sebaceous Gland Cyst
It seems they can be harmless....or not. I know a bazillion tests come back "suspicious" and need further testing done so I'm trying not to freak out about it. I just wish the sample today told us benign and that would be that.

It's Bear and I'm a little freaked out. I was licking my paw and Mom found this giant THING growing on my toe. Does anydog know what it is?! Have you had a humongous alien growth on your toe before?!?!? Look - here it is:

Mom's taking me to Dr. Bill's in the morning with Tucker to see what's wrong but now we're going to worry all night. If you have any ideas let us know. It's kinda hard, not smooshy really and Mom said nothing was leaking out of it. I'm totally grossed out, I even went back to see if it looked like Indy's but I don't think so. I don't want to have pus squeezed out of my toe!! (Maryann - and I don't want to do it either)

Worried - Bear

PS M here....does anyone have an idea?!?!?!? Uuuuuugh.

Hey Bear,
I really have no idea what that is. Please keep us posted after the vet has taken a look at you. I guess Tucker should be glad to have you as company at the vet.

Might be a histiocytoma...Ruby had one a few months back. They are gross and magically disappear just liked they appear. Best to get it check out to be sure. Does it hurt him???

We'll be thinking good thoughts!

We have no idea but hope it's what Ruby had. Oh and we want to know if your mom ever gets to spend any money on herself or just gives her whole check to Dr. Bill? :) :)

Bear! That looks like my tumor toe (http://ferndoggle.blogspot.com/2006/09/lola-has-tumor-on-her-toe.html)!! It was really no big deal...Mom just had to spray some Gentocin on it a couple times a day & it went away.

I hope that's all it is!

Tumor toe? Poor Lola and Bear. That sounds like a nickname that could stick for a while. I hope it turns out to be just tumor toe, and nothing more serious. I will be dreaming about you all day, Bear. And then when I hear you are perfectly fine (paws crossed), I will dream about you some more.

My Mom had a dog that had something like that, but it was on her ear. Mom said it was nothing too serious. The vet trained it and she had to wear one of those funny collars so she wouln't scratch it then it was fine. Hopefully it's nothing serious!

Was it Cutaneous Histiocytoma? That's what Lola had & it went away after a couple of days.

Trust your vet...he's the expert.

Bear does not have cancer, Bear does not have cancer, Bear does not have cancer...the power of positive thinking.

Meggie has LOT of lumps that look like this. Hers are just fatty lumps. Nothing to worry about.

Fingers crossed.

I have no idea what that is, but maybe it's your twin that has not developed. I heard that Andy Garcia has an underdeveloped fetus on his shoulder. We watch way too much Discovery Health Channel.

Seriously though, you are a big strapping male - I'm sure it's just a cyst. But just in case, we are going to keep you and your human in our prayers.

I had a lump around my rib area a while back (and it freaked my mom out BIG time). It was kinda hard and a bit smooshy, mom fiddled with it and it actually grew on the skin rather than the body (sorry if it sounds confusing)... the vet said it's a fatty deposit, which is harmless. Mine just went away after 2-3 weeks (of worry and sleepless nights) so I hope that's what Bear has!

When one of the boys had a sebaceous cyst removed from his lip, they thought it would be Cancer -- four years later, it still isn't.

Hi Bear & Maryann -

Love & Licks & extra special snuggles to Bear,

I sure hope that it turns out to be benign. I thought that cysts most often were. mommy has one small one behind her ear that she's had since getting the chicken pox when she was a human puppy and she says that apart from one time when it swelled up, it's never bothered her nor has it been an issue. She also wants me to say that my Cousin Gaia, who was a lab, had many of these that were benign and that a friend of ours recently had the same thing and his master was afraid of the big C but it turned out to be completely harmless. Just a few stories to try and reassure you. You're a strong guy, I'm sure that you'll be fine.

Licks, good vibes and holiday wishes,
Louka

Hi Bear! That lumpy doesn't look comfortable. I'm sorry dude. I hope your labs come back good (Um, you're obviously a good lab, I mean your laboratory work). I've had several of those cysts (I have one right now on my ear that I've had for years, another growth on my chest--I probably won't have them removed because I can't go under anaesthesia because of my heartable) and I've had several removed after needle biopsies. As a breed, Labbies are prone to these cysts and they are usually harmless. My vet calls them my "Benign Fatty Tumors" which is what my sissy calls me when she's being mean.

We will keep our paws crossed for you.

Your partner in lumps,

wally.
