Justice for Mercy!!

Friends,
We have followed this story from the beginning here in North Texas and can't tell you how happy we are that he was found guilty. We have our paws crossed the punishment fits the crime. You can read all about Mercy at http://www.operationkindness.org/.
UPDATE - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2007 - VERDICT IS IN - GUILTY!

Justice for Mercy has come! In less that one hour of deliberation, the jury came back this afternoon with a unanimous guilty verdict.

All of us at Operation Kindness are pleased and delighted. This was the outcome we hoped and prayed for. Mercy can now rest in peace. Today was justice for Mercy and all the abused animals she represents. Caring people around the world have been watching and waiting since Mercy died. We are very proud of the State of Texas and its citizens who have spoken with this verdict: open season on helpless animals is over. We now hope for the maximum ten year sentence to complete the justice received today.

The sentencing phase begins tomorrow at 9am.

we have a similar case here in montgomey, alabama. search 'meet louis' on youtube for details. his abuser is being held in jail with a $50,000 bond. i hope he rots there until his trial date. like mercy's killer, louis' abuser is looking at a 10 yr. sentence. i hope they both get the maximum - plus any extra punishment that their animal loving inmates want to dole out.

sorry guys, I can't go read about Mercy this week. Enough weeping without her story. But I will catch up on her later, and appreciate the guilty verdict just looking at her eyes.

Oh, that story made me leak a lot. But I'm so glad that someone got convicted. It is so hard to get animal cruelty charges brought and followed through on. Maybe with some of these high-profile cases there will be more willingness to prosecute, and less a-holeness on the part of people (sorry for the profanity. I just get SO MAD).

Sometimes I really don't understand peoples.

Howrooroo Brat Pack! Just followed the link from the comment you left us, thanks for stopping by. We'll add a link to y'all if it's okay, and you can do the same if you want.
Of course reading your last post made our mom turn on the waterfall again, and we're all so mad we could bite something after hearing what happened to poor Mercy. We're glad he was found guilty, but sorry the judge didn't throw a heavier book at him!

I'm glad something is being done to this heartless criminal, but it's not enough! He should spend more time in jail, I say.

That story was heartbreaking. Poor baby. I'm glad she's not in pain anymore :(

It's about time something is being done about what terrible hoomans are doing to us. Enough is still not being done. Animals deserve to live on this earth and to be respected and loved. If only a hooman could behave as honourably as 'just an animal'.

HAPPY BARKDAY DOT !!! We hope you have a wonderful day.

My mum could not find a c-box. She's a bit slow.

I am so glad that the courts are starting to learn that animal abuse is an offense that deserves the harshest and strictest sentence! These people need to learn they cannot get away with treating us this way! I also like to belive that God has another plan for them, and it involves a very hot place for them to rot and suffer 10 times more than those poor doggies!

thanx for sharing, M.
i'm cursing all i can at this man, and hope he will be TORTURED THE SAME WAY OR WORSE - for doing this to an innocent life.
i wish they could change the rules and make these b**tards pay a higher price cos here in our country, the fine is very little - nothing compared to a dear life!!!

i'm sure Mercy will be glad to know there are so many of us, praying for justice for her.
