(Mom got this in an email and wanted to share)
If I Didn't Have Dogs in My Life...
I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree -- dog bones, stuffed animals, toys, treats nor would I have to explain to people why I wrap them.
I would have money .... and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 4 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.
I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A-L-L-,
F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E OR C-A-R.
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading mud season.
I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many animals?" from people who do not have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.
If I didn't have dogs................How empty my life would be.

Dog fur is the most popular condiment in our house!!
Thanks for sharing!!
I loved the poem. It ended so right! You doggies are members of our family, too, & I wouldn't have it any other way. Would be too lonely without your companionship & love.
All true!
(especially the spelling bit - very funny!)
Hee hee - that's great! So true. :-) I left my dogs with my parents one night when I was moving, and the house was SO SILENT that it was rather frightening....
Bah - who needs money when you have their love, right?

When I moved out of my Mom's house and into an apartment that didn't allow pets I thought I'd be okay. It was the longest year of my life and I will never do it again. Not having a pet in the house is not a good feeling for me.
Hilary (Kaos's Mom)
Yup. After two weeks without Sophie, I know precisely why I have dogs. They are the best!
Whew--glad SOMEONE appreciates us. We deserve snacks, huh?
wally.
This is a great post. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Sorry for the people who don't understand why we love our fur kids.
Have a nice day
Lorenza's mom.
My mom really liked that!! Thanks for sharing. She wishes that her grandpa would understand dogs and why she chooses us instead of having kids. We're so much better!!
Kat
PS. Thanks, Tucker, for your understanding. I'm sorry you're having the same troubles with Bear that I'm having with Ulee.

Hey!
We love the saying you posted, and so do our folks. Post more when you get them.
P.S. It's HOT here too, it was 122 degrees with the heat index today. Our folks freeze water for us to lick when we are outside, so that helps alot.
Keep Cool!!

Dogs complete the humans. Without us they are truly nothing. And certainly not as happy as humans WITH dogs!
Holly
That was a great read! Thanks for sharing. I love the last two sentences the most.

Mom says she can't imagine life without us! Who would be her best friends in the whole wide world?! We love our mom!
Love ya lots,
Maggie
We love those sayings :), especially the last one! I definitely help complete my parents life. :)
Thanks for sharing this... it is SO apt in describing the hooman/ dog relationship.. Mom couldn't agree more to that last statement!
That is so good. I got my mom to print it out and she's gonna put it in our room. It says it all.

Even more reasons for the humans to rescue more of us!
