Samantha Update

We just got home from another exciting vet day. Samantha was very jaundiced this morning, her eyes and ears were yellow so they immediately did another blood panel. Her White Cell count was much better than last week BUT her Liver levels were THROUGH THE ROOF. There wasn't any room on the chart to go any higher. Sooo...X-rays ensued to check for anything odd but nothing showed up. She's now on six weeks of Prednisolone, Pancrezyme Tablets and an antibiotic still. Since she refused to eat the Low-Residue food she now has a different Low Fat/Residue/Miracle food. I assume it's a miracle food since it was $40 for 16 pounds. ;)

SO - the plan is that if she continues vomitting she will be admitted to the hospital for IV fluids, etc. Her food/water intake will have to be monitored closely over the next week as well. (poor Colton) I hate leaving town but I'm hoping between Colton and all of the family she'll have enough support in case something happens. (please no) Ugh. If she gets sick I'll just come home early.

She's in good spirits but refused to eat again tonight, otherwise very social. I hope this passes soon. Thanks for all the good advice - I had no idea there were so many Pancreas-Dogs out there! -Maryann

Oh Sam I'm pulling for ya girl...you need to get better soon for Wally ok! Try and eat a little...now is no time for the dieting!

Hang in there...I love ya! Lots of Licks, Ruby

Marianne - I know you must be a mess right now, but hang in there and try and have a good time. You are going to the happiest place on earth. You've left the Pack in good hands. I'm crossing my fingers everything will be ok.

We will keep sending those pawsitive thoughts over to Sam. I know she'll get well soon. Have a good trip and *try* not to worry too much about them. I'm sure they are in good hands.

Oh Poor Sam...you need Wally to come over & give you Corgidor snuggles!

Maryann, go have a blast & try to only think about your pack for 75% of your vacation. Sam will be fine, Colton sounds like a doll & if he needs encouragement, give him our email. We'll help him through!!

Get well soon Sam!!!

Aw Sam. I bet you're pretty, even when jaundiced. I hope your pancreas and liver start behaving. We have liver for breakfast sometimes--would that help? Sigh. If only I was there to give healing smooches.

wally.

Yay for us Pancreas-Dogs!!! It just makes us more special. :-) Try to eat, Sam - if you don't it'll just make the humans panic more and that's never fun....
