Send good vibes...

Just taking a second here. Thrawn had a seizure tonight, I immediately started his valium (2 immediately and 1 every hour for 3 hours following) and the yogurt/rescue remedy every 30 minutes for the next 12 hours. Cross your fingers it stops the clusters before they start and this bout is over. It's been since Sept 24 since the last single seizure he's had and August 18th for the clusters. Going to be a long night but hopefully this will work. Cross your fingers. -M

Update - Thanks for the well wishes and WOW the DWB News is fast! It's been a looong night and unfortunately the plan didn't work. The first seizure he had was at 8:40 then he had his round of valium....but then seized again at 12:50 am, 3:30 am and 8 am. Talked to Dr. Bill and started another round of valium - 25 mg over a 4 hour period. By all means he should be completely knocked out, but nope.

After the second seizure something odd started happening - he persisted with almost an involuntary barking, more yapping than anything. Not in his usual voice either. This went on for about an hour - every 5-15 seconds. Finally he fell asleep but after the 8am one he started again and has been going for about an hour now. Dr. Bill said it could be caused by the seizures and I'm hoping that it just goes away. It's just very strange and disconcerting. I recorded a bit of it to show him if need be. Google is being a pain, hopefully dropshots will work. -M

Meg had her first seizure in over 6 months last week, which gave us a shock, but fortunately (so far) she has not had another. I hope you are as lucky.

  22. Dear Thrawn Mary Ann and group...

when we heard poor Thrawn on the video we tried to get through the screen to give him wirey licks. He sounds so unhappy, we hope he has some relief soon. When my friend Rosie had siezures I would sit by her and howl right along with her. I don't think it helped her, but it was the only thing I could think of. Now I get whisked out of the house if we are there when she starts. She has clusters too, she is a lab mix, and has been on meds for almost 12 years, muzzer tells me.

kissies to Thrawn and the rest of you.

  23. Wow, that was very hard to watch. Abby has had seizures in the past, but since we put her on the Potassium Bromide, luckily she has not had any more.

I wonder if his reaction is involuntary, and he can't help himself. He sounds sooo awful!

I will say prayers for him, and hope he gets better VERY soon. It's so painful to watch then go through this. You just want to hug and hug them and not let go.
